The game starts off with Jak and Daxter disobeying Samos the sage and travelling to Misty Island. Jak and Daxter is a 3D platformer with a deceitfully simple story, but loveable and fun characters. It should be noted, that the release of Jak and Daxter the Precursor Legacy on the PlayStation 4 are a port of the PlayStation 2 version, not the remastered on PlayStation 3 that was released in 2012. So with the announcement from Limited Run Games that they were going to be publishing physical copies of the game on PlayStation 4, I jumped on that opportunity and bought the collectors edition of all three mainline Jak games. I have personally played Jak and Daxter the Precursor Legacy over thirty times and I enjoy each playthrough just as much as the first time I’ve played it, which is a rare feat to accomplish in any form of media. It was also part of my early gaming memories. PS5 also is good considering Demon's Souls and It Takes Two, and then Elden Ring just outside that time span.The Jak and Daxter series has always been a big part of my childhood. I guess Tekken 2 was fine but I got it along with Soul Blade so never spent much time on it. PS1 has a ton of classics but I only liked a few of them at the time, but Suikoden and SFA2 are still some of my favourite games so that's pretty solid still. I played through eight of those and another couple pretty extensively.
I was playing shit like Contrast and complaining that SF4 and Dark Souls 2 and VF5 Final Showdown weren't yet confirmed to get ports, so I spent much more time on the PS3. I remember playing nothing but Resogun on the damn thing for ages.

In a lot of ways, Xbox One/PS4 only releases are like current gen releases as well since instead of a PS5 remastered version, you just play the game on a new console with graphical/performance improvements. So I don't know if you consider this support of the system or not, but since generations are more blurred now than before, I feel some companies can just release on last gen and know that current gen players can buy it as well and run it better. PS3 originally had PS2 BC, and at that point, there were not many cross-gen games past stuff like sports games.īut PS5 is an interesting case: you have games that didn't technically release on current gen consoles like Mass Effect and Great ace, or something like Psychonauts which only came to Xbox next gen since Double Fine is owned by MS, but having played a lot of these games on PS5, it's easy for me to forget that they're not PS5 games as well. What I actually find a bit difficult about the comparison is that backwards compatibility makes it a little harder to compare PS2/5 with 3/4. In a way it's kind of cheating since it's almost an extra year, but most of this stuff is from 1996 anyway? It was just a little harder to do due to when consoles released back then, whereas it's more uniform now. PS1 may be a bit controversial since it came out late 1994 in Japan but late 1995 in many western countries, and that's the starting point for this to make it more comparable to 2-5.
